Hi, welcome to ‘Transformations’! In this blog you’ll get to read some of my thoughts on living, see what I’ve been growing/cooking/brewing, and hear the music I’m writing. And probably other stuff, too.
The thread that weaves all of these things together is something that I have started calling sustainable spirituality. Sustainability is something we hear a lot about, mostly regarding the health of the planet and how we are affecting it. Many people are starting to think differently about the lifestyle choices they make, and the effects that those choices have on everyone around us, and indeed the entire planet!
For me, sustainable spirituality means thinking about my personal environment in a similar way. After all, my body and mind, my home and workplace(s), and my friendships and relationships are like tiny ecosystems with their own patterns, behaviours, and dangers.
My daily routine can be the cause of stress, or it can help me stay productive and focused. My home environment can encourage harmony or cluttered confusion. My attitude towards my family and friends can be loving and constructive, or selfishness can put up walls of isolation between us. Every choice I make can either be motivated by self-gratification which leads to emptiness, or other-service which leads to health and growth, things which will sustain myself and those around me.
Everything I do (or don’t do) is taking a step on a path towards this kind of spiritual sustainability, either forwards or backwards. By exploring my personal ecosystem on this blog, my hope is that you might start to see your own life in a similar way. I hope to benefit just as much from your comments, wisdom and advice in return.
Pleasant journeys,
Chris

Thank you for commenting on my blog. And thank you for sharing info about the taoist xtians. I had no idea they existed. I think spiritual sustainability applies to taoism in practice. I never thought of myself as being/having my own tiny ecosystem, but that is sooo true. You have given me a new way to think of my life and how I affect other ecosystems! Thank You!
