Sabbath Reflections

‘You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work.’

Sabbath is a tradition which my family and I have adopted as part of our spiritual practice.  This is a weekly series of my thoughts about, for and around the Sabbath:  what it means, why we need it, and what it is for.  Although I write from a Christian perspective, I welcome the community, feedback and insight of people from every faith and philosophy.

In keeping with the Sabbath, I encourage you to take a few minutes out of your Saturday for stillness, reading and quiet prayer.  If you don’t already set aside this time for yourself, I humbly offer these ‘Sabbath reflections’ as a place to start.  You may subscribe to this series by clicking here (or here for e-mail subscription).  Finally, you may browse previous entries using the category link on your right.

Thanks for reading and taking part in these reflections.  Shabbat Shalom.
