I’ve decided that posting a regular series of posts on a specific topic is great way of sustaining the life of a blog. Really, if it weren’t for my ongoing series on the Tao Te Ching, transformations would probably have died several months ago! And as a reader it’s nice to get into the habit of keeping up with each instalment. To that end, you can now expect a chapter of the Tao Te Ching to arrive in your inbox every Sunday evening. One of the benefits of blog-writing, I am discovering, is that you are always writing in community. Unlike a book, where people tend to exhaustively argue a complete, self-contained thesis from beginning to end, a good blog keeps things short and sweet. It is less concerned with creating a fortress of logic than with giving some food for thought that readers can quickly digest, comment on, and respond to in their own blogs. Writing in that way is a really good discipline to learn, because it encourages efficiency and clarity, don’t you think? Feel free to let me know how I’m doing!
I’m lucky enough to have time to look over my blog subscriptions in Google reader almost every day, and I usually find at least one or two things that keep me thinking for the rest of the day. Hooray for the blogosphere
I just want to quickly direct your attention to the new ‘subscribe’ buttons on the top left of the blog. The first is the usual feed link, which is great for people who read several blogs. However, not everyone does that. For the rest of us, there’s now a shiny new ‘subscribe by e-mail’ button right next to it! This will send you a not-more-than-daily copy of any new posts. Feel free to make use of it if that format suits you better.
